Why this page exists
Families in our market have been robbed often enough that suspicion is the correct starting position. We would rather hand you the tools to check us than ask you to trust us.
Use these on Orbuni. Use them on everyone else too.
1. Ask who they are partnered with, then verify it upstream
Any agency placing students at Turkish universities is working through somebody — a platform, a network, or direct agreements. Ask which. Then check with that partner, or with the university, that the agency is genuinely on their list.
Orbuni is a verified partner of AskUni. That is checkable, and it is on our About page rather than buried.
2. Ask what they are, legally, and expect a straight answer
Vagueness here is the loudest warning sign there is. An agency that will not tell you plainly what it is — a company, a partnership, two people — is hiding something, even if the something is small.
We say on our own About page that Orbuni is two named people operating from Istanbul and is not separately incorporated. You may decide that matters. What should worry you is an agency that will not tell you at all.
3. Ask when money changes hands, and for what
The single most useful question: what do I pay, to whom, and at what stage?
A real answer is specific and stays the same when you ask twice. Watch for a fee to "open a file", a fee to "check eligibility", or a price that only appears after you have committed.
4. Never pay tuition into a personal account
Tuition belongs to the university. It should be paid to the university, and you should hold the university's own receipt with its reference number.
If anyone asks you to send tuition to a personal account, stop. There is no legitimate version of that request. It is also why we put it in writing in our terms — so you can hold us to it.
5. Verify the acceptance letter with the university, directly
When an offer arrives, contact the university's international office yourself, using contact details from the university's own website — not from the letter, and not from the agency.
Ask them to confirm the letter is real and issued to you. Any honest agency will encourage this. We do.
6. Ask what happens if it goes wrong
What if the visa is refused? What if the university rejects me? What is refundable, and what is not?
An agency with real answers has written them down. An agency that says "don't worry, that won't happen" has not.
7. Ask for something in writing, and see how they react
Ask for the fee, the process and the refund position in a message you can keep. Watch what happens. Agencies that only speak on the phone, only send voice notes, and never put a figure in text are choosing that deliberately.
What we ask of you in return
Read our terms before you engage us, not after. If anything on this site contradicts what someone tells you in a chat — including one of us — the site is the version we stand behind, and we want to know.
